Service updates

In this section, we will give you advance notice of anything affecting our levels of service, such as periods of high demand for passports and our online application facility - or any temporary changes to our office opening hours. Any alerts regarding website maintenance will also be found here.

IPS industrial action 8-9 March 2010

All IPS offices will remain open on both days and will be able to support customers who have made an appointment for any of our services, including certificate services, passports, identity interviews and identity cards.

All regional office counters will be open and will be able to issue passports for those in emergency situations or with urgent needs.

All our published targets for delivery will continue to be met. However, if you need to travel urgently, please telephone our Adviceline for further information on 0300 222 0000.

Passport interviews in the South East

Due to increased work volumes, we currently do not have enough appointments available in London and the South East to meet current demand. Consequently our appointment booking line is very busy, especially early in the morning. If you wish to make an appointment for other areas we suggest you call after 10am, if possible. We are monitoring the situation and will endeavour to fulfil our service to you. We will continue to provide regular updates on the website.
