How we work

The Identity and Passport Service (IPS) is an Executive Agency of the Home Office, incorporating the General Register Office and providing passport services, identity management and fraud protection.

Our people are the reason for our success and we have built an enviable reputation for delivery of customer service, leadership and sustained, productive change. At our busiest times of year, IPS employs over 4,000 people across the UK in seven regional offices, 68 interview offices, GRO in Southport and headquarters in Central London.
We have two types of passport office open to the public: regional offices and interview offices.
