UKBA

The UK Border Agency, (UKBA) is responsible for immigration control. It regulates entry to, and settlement in, the UK. It considers applications for permission to stay, citizenship and asylum. UKBA issues biometric residence permits and works with IPS to deliver identity products for foreign nationals resident in the UK.

UK Visas

UK Visas is a joint Foreign & Commonwealth Office and Home Office unit responsible for issuing visas to foreign nationals, allowing them to enter the UK. UK Visas will be issuing biometric visas to foreign nationals applying for UK visas through UK diplomatic posts overseas.

Foreign & Commonwealth Office

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) works for UK interests in a safe, just and prosperous world. It provides consular services to British nationals overseas through a worldwide network of diplomatic offices, including issuing passports. The FCO has an interest in the continuance of the highest standards in the development of passports.

Local Authorities and Registration Officers

The General Register Office oversees the civil registration of key life events such as birth, adoption, stillbirth, marriage, civil partnership and death throughout England and Wales, in partnership with local authorities. A network of local registrars are responsible for keeping us updated with all events registered at district level.
