Royal Mail has advised that further industrial action has been announced by the Communications Workers’ Union. This action will be in the form of two 48 hour stoppages on 5 and 6, and 8 and 9 October. Customers should therefore allow additional time for their applications to reach IPS. Applications made via the Check & Send service at Post Offices are despatched by Royal Mail Special Delivery. All attempts will be made by Royal Mail to maintain this service, however these may still experience a delay in the delivery to IPS and customers are therefore advised to allow additional time for IPS to process the application. IPS will continue to monitor developments and will make customers aware of any further impact on the services that it provides.
At present no further industrial action has been announced within the network of 'Crown' Post Offices. Crown Post Offices account for about 450 Post Office branches or 20% of the network that provide the Check & Send service.
Latest information on any industrial action can be sought from www.royalmail.com, or by calling the Royal Mail Customer Helpline on 08457 950 950.
