Race Equality Scheme Review May 2005

The Identity and Passport Service (IPS) Race Equality Scheme shows what we are doing to eliminate unlawful discrimination and promote race equality. IPS strives to place race equality at the centre of everything we do, whether we are delivering services to all our customers or through our employing processes.

The scheme aims to show:

how we will eliminate potential racial discrimination in our services and employment practices.
what we are doing to promote race equality in all of our work throughout IPS.

The Reviewed scheme highlights:

the achievements that IPS has delivered since the introduction of the Race Equality Scheme in 2002.
how IPS has undertaken consultation with people from different racial groups, and how we have gathered our information and raised awareness of racial equality throughout IPS.
the scheme also highlights how we support staff from different racial backgrounds.
what we are doing to assess our policies and processes in order to eliminate racial discrimination and promote equality through the Equality Impact Assessment and our Equality Scheme action plan.
