Royal Mail Strike Action

Tuesday 21 August 2007

The national Royal Mail Group industrial action has been suspended pending ongoing talks between Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union. IPS has been assured that backlogs within Royal Mail have been cleared and all services are therefore back to normal. There have however been some further local disputes and these will therefore impact services. IPS will continue to monitor developments and will make customers aware of any further impact on the services that it provides.

Industrial action is however continuing within the network of 'Crown' Post Offices and further action is planned. Crown Post Offices account for about 450 Post Office branches or 20% of the network that provide the Check & Send service. All attempts will be made by Post Office Ltd to maintain this service; however there may some closures and customers may need to find an alternative office to submit their application.

Latest information on any industrial action can be sought from www.royalmail.com, or by calling the Royal Mail Customer Helpline on 08457 950 950.
