Race, Disability and Gender Equality Scheme

The Identity and Passport Service (IPS) Race, Disability and Gender Equality Scheme now sets out our plans to meet the statutory general and specific duties under the Equality Act of 2006, which require us to take steps to promote equality of opportunity for men and women.  This is in addition to our existing requirements under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 and the Disability Discrimination Act 2005.

Our scheme for gender equality joins our existing Race Equality Scheme and Disability Equality Scheme in this one document, under the Home Office overarching Race, Disability and Gender Equality Scheme.

The Scheme also makes reference to all equality and diversity strands, including age, sexual orientation and religion or belief.

We continuously review our Race, Disability and Gender Equality Scheme as a proactive approach to promote race, disability and gender equality in all of our functions and activities to make a positive difference to the experiences of our staff and customers.  We welcome your comments and suggestions and encourage your involvement in the continuous development of the Scheme.
