I want to apply for a new or renewed child passport (under 16s)

What documents do I need?

For a first child passport

We need to see original documents that prove your child is British. We cannot accept copies.

Please note that a birth certificate is not absolute proof of identity, and even if your child was born in the UK we may ask to see further documents.

The documents we need depend on where your child was born:

To renew a child passport

In this case we need to see only your child’s current or last passport.

If you are not sure what you need to send us you can call our 24-hour Passport Adviceline 0870 521 0410 (see terms and conditions).
