Apply for a passport

I want to apply for my first adult passport

Remember, you cannot apply for the fast-track one week service for your first adult passport.

See the section below to find out when you should apply.

This section is a step-by-step guide to applying for your first adult passport. We will take you through the whole process, helping you to choose the method of application that best suits you.

If the application is for a person under the age of 16, you should apply for a child passport (which is valid for five years) unless the child is likely to turn 16 before we issue a passport. In this case, you should apply as though they are 16 and send us the adult fee for a 10-year passport.
