How long does it take?

Upgrading your application (when plans change suddenly)

If your travel plans change after your have applied for a passport, we can arrange to process your application more quickly if you apply and pay for an upgrade to the same-day Premium service. Please phone our 24-hour Passport Adviceline 0300 222 0000 (see terms and conditions) for more details, including the extra fee, if you need to request an upgrade. An upgrade may not always be possible at our busiest times.
