Passport interviews

First-time adult passport customers should allow more time when applying

This change to the application process means first-time adult customers should plan on allowing more time than in the past to receive their passport as they will need to attend an interview. We recommend customers submit their applications six weeks before they need their passport to travel.

If you were born on or before 2 September 1929, you may not need to have an identity interview.

Removal of the Fast Track service for first-time adult passport customers

As first-time adult customers will need to attend an interview, it will no longer be possible for IPS to provide them with a Fast Track (one-week) service. The Fast Track service will not be available to first-time adult passport customers from 1 June 2007. The Fast Track service will continue to be available for customers renewing their passport.
