You must return it to us.
Once we receive your LS01 form to process a lost passport, we cancel your passport and you are not able to use it as legal proof of nationality or for any other legal purpose.
If you find your passport, you must return it to your nearest passport office as soon as possible. You must not try to use it to travel, as this may cause delay or cause the passport to be impounded by the Immigration Service at ports or airports. You must also not use it as a means of identification, as this may be detected as a potentially fraudulent act.
If you have completed an on-line form declaring your passport lost, but have found your passport before returning the form to IPS, you must not sign the form. You must instead return it in the envelope provided with a signed note confirming that you have now found your passport and no longer wish to cancel it.
