Did you know that holders of British biometric 'ePassports' can use the first automated passport control system in the world? Known as RAPID, it uses facial recognition technology and performs the same checks as a human immigration officer. No enrolment, application or registration is required, so if you hold a biometric passport and are aged over 18, just avoid the normal queues and walk right up to the gates. It usually takes just 20 seconds to pass through.
To use the system first hold your biometric passport on the reader, step through to stand on the yellow spot and look into the camera. When the gates open, just walk on through!
