Third Party Counter Services – “Check & Send”

The Identity and Passport Service (IPS) has published an advertisement in the Official Journal of the European Union for “Third Party Counter Services”. This procurement is to replace existing arrangements that allow members of the public to have their passport application and documentation checked prior to despatch to IPS for processing.

Current arrangements are due to expire on 31 December 2007 and it is intended that replacement concession arrangements will be for two years, with an option to extend for up to a further two years. Any organisation granted a concession to provide the services to the public will generate income through charging a handling fee to those who wish to buy the service.

Interested suppliers should refer to the Official Journal Website (new window) where the advertisement is expected to appear shortly.
